HOW THE Y IMPACTS THE COMMUNITY
“It takes a community to raise an Olympian.” Family, friends, teammates, coaches, fans, volunteers and more. As a two-time Olympian, I know the truth of this statement and the importance of providing youth an opportunity to grow and learn in a positive environment.
The Kankakee Area YMCA has been providing just such a nurturing environment for kids and families in our community for over 120 years. The YMCA teaches more than just how to shoot a basketball or how to complete a swimming backstroke. The YMCA teaches our youth core values such as caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility, values that transcend sports and help shape the character of the future leaders of our community. Investing in our youth is an investment in our future community. To view the campaign video, click here.
That is why volunteers are putting in countless hours for the 2015 Strong Kids Campaign. The Strong Kids Campaign has an ambitious goal to raise $100,000 , money which will help over 2,000 local families enjoy the numerous benefits of the Kankakee Area YMCA. We don’t know where the next 2028 Olympian will come from. That is why it is up to us to ensure that no child or family is turned away due to inability to pay. Please consider a contribution today to help make a difference in someone’s life! You never know where their journey will go!

KAY BEYER Kay is new to the world of Personal Training, but not new to personal fitness. After raising four kids and working full-time in the corporate world for 20 plus years, she has stayed healthy through it all! She understands that juggling priorities and making the choice to be fit is not easy, and has adopted a philosophy of BALANCE. “Adding exercise to your routine, no matter how little or much, will improve other areas of your life. It’s not what you see in the mirror, but what you FEEL inside that makes daily exercise worth it. Our society emphasizes physical beauty, but a healthy body glows no matter what shape you are.” Kay specializes in Yoga, Pilates and Core strength training. Whether it’s your first step, or your 501st, Kay is excited to share it with you! Together, you might just find the joy in fitness.
DUSTIN BURCH When Dustin was fifteen years old he began exercising and immediately developed an interest in physical fitness. He became a certified Personal Trainer through the ACE program so that he could help others feel good about themselves and reach their fitness goals as well. “For some, weight loss can be one of the hardest struggles they face, and I want to help those conquer that struggle.” He is a firm believer that what you eat is the number one component in determining your results and that you should constantly change up your workout routine so that coming to the gym never becomes dull. Outside of the gym Dustin also enjoys being active, playing baseball, swimming
